2021 Kia Soul vs 2020 Kia Soul

Serving Louisville, TN

Even though the Kia Soul was redesigned in 2020, it still gets some new features to be even better in 2021. The 2021 Kia Soul has more standard safety technology than before. Now, there is a rear-seat alert that is a standard amenity on all trim levels. The X-Line and GT-Line trims have retuned shock absorbers for a smoother ride than before. The GT-Line turbo trim has a new name this year, which is called “Turbo.” The 2021 Kia Soul builds on the added features in 2020, including a spacious cabin and roomy cargo area, although the Soul is a compact vehicle. High-quality interior materials are a notable highlight of the 2021 and 2020 model years of the Kia Soul.

Performance

Both the 2021 and 2020 Kia Soul have several powertrain systems available. The entry-level engine for most trims is a 2.0L with a four-cylinder layout. The base engine alone packs a punch by delivering 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission matches the base trim engine, while an automatic transmission is standard on the other trims. The second engine available for both model years is a 1.6L with four cylinders. This engine produces more power at 201 horsepower and up to 195 lb-ft in torque. It comes with a standard automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard for all Kia Soul trims.

Appearance

Appearance varies for the Kia Soul by trim. The base trim, called the LX in 2021 and 2020, has 16-inch steel wheels and automatic headlights. It also has a rear privacy glass that also blocks out the excess sun. Body-colored door handles and mirrors are standard on the S trim, which also adds alloy wheels. Following the S is the X-Line in 2020 and 2021. This model is the sportiest of the bunch and includes larger 18-inch wheels. Roof rails are standard on this trim.

Features

There are some changes to features available in the Kia Soul for 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the Kia Soul comes with a backup camera and hill start assist as its safety package. A rear-seat reminder is added in 2021. The Soul adds some additional safety features on higher-end trims. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and smartphone integration are standard on all trims. A seven-inch display screen is standard. Upgraded cloth upholstery is standard on the S, while the X-Line gets a leather steering wheel.
