2021 Kia K5 vs 2021 Toyota Camry

Serving Louisville, TN

The Toyota Camry has been popular among Louisville-area drivers for several decades, but another midsize sedan is now capturing their attention. The new Kia K5 replaces the outgoing Optima, and it brings invigorating, modernized style and thrilling capabilities to the table. With the K5 now vying for your attention, which of these midsize sedans will you decide to call your own?

Performance

Two powertrains are available for both the 2021 Kia K5 and the Toyota Camry. For the K5, these include a 290-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbo, and a 180-horsepower, 1.6-liter. Throughout the trim lineup, the K5’s performance is elevated by an extra-wide stance for improved control and a wet clutch with the auto eight-speed transmission. The 2021 Camry’s two engines register with a slightly higher horsepower output. However, the K5 has superior fuel economy and torque numbers.

Exterior

As a new model, the Kia K5 infuses the midsize car segment with a fresh, exciting look. Compared to the Camry, the K5 has a sleeker profile with a swooping hood and a rounded nose. The integrated grille links the three-bulb headlights, and they are set off by orange light bars that zig under and around the bulbs. In addition to the Camry’s taller hood, the Toyota model’s pointed front end, extra-large lower-front vent, and sharpened headlights add further differentiation.

Interior

The K5’s and Camry’s exterior design themes are mimicked throughout each car’s interior. In addition to visual differences, there are substantial differences across the included and available features. The K5 has a Bose audio system with 12 speakers, wireless device charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and up to a 10.25-inch digital screen. The Camry is available with a JBL audio system, ten speakers, and up to a 9-inch display screen.
