2021 Kia K5 vs 2020 Kia Stinger

Serving Louisville, TN

If you're looking for a Kia sedan to drive, you can't go wrong with either the 2021 Kia K5 or the 2020 Kia Stinger. Both vehicles have seating for five individuals. Additionally, they both have premium sporty exterior designs with some variation among trims. The two Kia sedans have several options for their mechanical configurations, and they are both available in a variety of paint colors for a personalized finish. Despite their similarities, there are also some differences to note between the two vehicles, too. The Kia K5 is an all-new model this year that ultimately takes over for the outgoing Kia Optima. Meanwhile, the Stinger now gets more standard safety features, a larger infotainment display, and additional assorted standard and available amenities.

Performance

Several transmission options and engines are available for both the Kia K5 and the Kia Stinger. The K5 comes with two engines, both of which are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With the top engine, however, you can control gear shifting with integrated paddle shifters. The first engine for the K5 generates 180 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available. The second engine, also offered with front-wheel and all-wheel drive, creates 290 horsepower and comes with a boost of turbo power. Both engines on the Stinger are turbo-charged. The first engine produces 255 horsepower, and the second produces 365 horsepower. The Stinger comes with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is optional.

Appearance

Bold LED lights illuminate the way for all trims of the K5. The K5 begins with 16-inch wheels, while the base trim of the Stinger gets 18-inch wheels that progress to 19-inch wheels by the second trim level. LED headlights are added to the GT trim level of the Stinger and higher. A coupe-like body design adds to the Stinger's appeal, and select trims get a rear spoiler.

Features

The K5 gets an eight-inch infotainment display with wireless smartphone pairing, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Now, all trim levels of the Stinger also get a minimum eight-inch infotainment display screen. Cloth seats are included on the base trim of the K5, but leather and premium leather seats are added on the GT-Line and higher. The GT-Line also gets sporty seats. The Stinger gets a sunroof, a 15-speaker sound system, and a host of driver-assist aids.
