2021 Kia K5 vs 2020 Kia Forte

Serving Louisville, TN

If you want a standout sedan for your next car, both the Kia K5 and the Kia Forte are premium options. The 2021 Kia K5 is an all-new release from the automaker. The 2021 K5 is ultimately a replacement for the outgoing Kia Optima. The K5 carries over some of the Optima's most popular features from its tenure on the market, including premium amenities, exceptional value, and good power overall. The Kia Forte has been recently redesigned. Now, the small sedan is configured with more safety technology than in the past. It gets some more trim-specific updates too, including a power-operated sunroof. The Kia Forte comes with the option of two engines depending on trim.

Performance

Multiple engines are offered for both the 2021 K5 and the 2020 Kia Forte. The K5 is configured with a base engine on most trims that has a four-cylinder configuration. This turbo engine reaches a maximum power output of 180 horsepower. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A second, more powerful engine is available for the K5 as well. This engine, which drives the GT trim, produces 290 horsepower. It is matched to an eight-speed transmission too, but you get paddle shifters for a more in-control driving experience. The Forte also has two engine options. The base engine for the Forte is a 2.0L with a four-cylinder layout. This engine creates 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft in torque. You can also get a 1.6L engine with four cylinders that produces approximately 200 horsepower and a choice of manual or automatic transmission.

Appearance

Both the Kia Forte and the K5 have a stylish and sporty exterior. The K5 comes with LED headlights for a bold start. The K5 also has some trims with unique accents, such as sporty exterior trim details on the GT. The Forte starts with 15-inch wheels on the base trim, but you can upgrade to 16-inch wheels and 17-inch wheels on the higher-end trims.

Features

Cloth seats, an eight-inch infotainment display, and wireless support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and smartphone connectivity are standard on the base K5. Leather seats are added to the higher-end trims. The Kia Forte is newly equipped with a sunroof this year, and it gets more advanced safety aids including rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. A premium sound system is added as well.
