The Kia Sorento has been around since 2003. The corporate cousin of the Hyundai Santa FE, the Sorento is now in the fourth generation, which was revealed for the 2020 model year. Now, the Sorento gets its mid-cycle facelift.

Known for offering a family-friendly cabin with a comfortable ride, the 2024 Sorento has been revamped. Kia provides notable changes at the front and rear. Buyers also get two new colors. Meanwhile, the interior got a new dashboard and twin displays, and the infotainment software received an update, too.

  • S
  • EX
  • EX X-Line

Interior Review of the 2024 Kia Sorento

The 2024 Kia Sorento features a 142 cubic-foot passenger cabin with three rows. A seven-seat layout is the default, but buyers can specify a six-seat configuration with second-row captain chairs. These two seats have their adjustments and armrests. Hence, they are perfect for families with elderly parents or taller teenagers.

The 2024 Sorento's dashboard gets a notable refresh. Two vertically oriented air vents act like bookends, while a single piece of curved panoramic glass covers the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. This brings the 2024 Sorento in line with Kia’s latest models.

Higher trims have a fully digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, and leather upholstery. New for 2024 is fresh interior trim colors, such as sage green and olive brown. You can also choose a matte wood finish for the interior trim elements.

The 2024 Sorento’s infotainment system software now supports seamless over-the-air updates. This means that Kia can send new features to your 2024 Sorento at a later date.

The cargo capacity for the 2024 Sorento is 13 cubic feet when all three rows are up. The third and second rows offer a power-operated split-folding feature on higher trims. Hence, you can easily use your 2024 Sorento to carry various items, including flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and garden decorations.

Exterior Review of the 2024 Kia Sorento

The 2024 Kia Sorento wears the automaker's latest Opposites United design philosophy. Hence, it presents a squared-off front and clamshell hood similar to the larger Telluride. Kia's signature amber-colored daytime running lamps can also be seen.

Meanwhile, the vertically-stacked headlamps are LED units, as are the tail lamps, similar to the Kia Telluride's tail lamps. You'll also note wider skid plates on the front and rear bumpers. These are not only aesthetic but help protect this three-row SUV's bumpers from dings and scrapes.

The X-Line trim has a bridge-type roof rack, a gloss black front grille, special X-Line front and rear bumpers, and 20-inch alloy wheels in gloss black. Conversely, the X-Pro has 17-inch alloy wheels, but these come with taller-profile BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.

Ten colors are available for the 2024 Sorento, including two new colors:

  • Dawning Red (new for 2024)
  • Midnight Lake Blue (new for 2024)
  • Everlasting Silver
  • Ebony Black
  • Wolf Gray
  • Sapphire Blue
  • Gravity Gray
  • Glacial White Pearl
  • Passion Red
  • Aruba Green

Power and Performance of the 2024 Kia Sorento

Buyers of the 2024 Sorento can pick between front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive for most trims. However, this doesn’t apply to the X-Line and X-Pro trims, which only come with all-wheel-drive. The all-wheel-drive system is an active system that offers dynamic torque vectoring and adds a center-locking differential.

The LX and S trims come with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque and comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Higher trims get a powerful turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine makes 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Furthermore, this powertrain adds steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Hence, drivers can take control of gear shifting.

The 2024 Kia Sorento range can tow up to 4,000 pounds. This figure applies to the X-Pro trim.
