 What's New for the 2021 Kia Sorento?

The 2021 Kia Sorento has been totally redesigned. The Kia Sorento belongs to the class of small SUVs, but it offers more than most in its class. Unlike its competitors, which are generally less spacious and less powerful, the 2021 Kia Sorento excels in both areas. The Sorento comes with seating for five and plenty of space in the back row. In 2021, Kia added even more room to the back seat to give everyone more legroom and headroom. The Kia Sorento gets some design updates this year. It has some new powertrain options, including a hybrid and a plug-in, to give drivers more versatility and freedom of choice in the field of performance and handling.

There are five trim levels available for the Kia Sorento in 2021. The first trim is the LX. Next in line is the S. The EX is the third trim, followed by the “SX” trims, including the SX, SX Prestige, and the line-topping SX Prestige X-Line. To start, the LX has 17-inch wheels and LED headlights. Heated mirrors are a standard feature as well. The interior gets split-folding seats in front and back. There is a standard eight-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. With the S comes larger 18-inch wheels and glossy black accents for the exterior. The interior gets some upgrades, too, including simulated leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, a push-button start, and keyless entry. The EX features more power with a higher-end engine, LED fog lights on the outside, some more safety aids, and a wireless phone charger. The SX upgrades to 20-inch wheels and adds LED lights in the back. The infotainment system has a larger 10.25-inch display screen. The SX Prestige builds on that list with leather seats, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a digital gauge cluster, and a higher-end Bose sound system. The top SX Prestige X-Line has more amenities, including a custom dark gray trim on the outside, a snow mode, and more ground clearance at 8.2 inches.

The Sorento base engine is a 2.5L four-cylinder that produces a maximum of 191 HP and up to 182 LB-FT in torque. The EX has a separate 2.5L turbo engine that cranks out 281 HP and 311 LB-FT in torque. The Kia Sorento is available with a hybrid engine if you get the S and EX. The hybrid produces 227 HP with a 1.6L engine.
